Ninjutsu, translated as the silent art, is a fighting style made up from a variety of Japanese and Chinese martial arts techniques. Originally designed and used in military combat, ninjutsu is now a popular competitive sport and self-defense technique. The choke technique is one of the basic principles of this martial arts style. A few tips can show you how.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use the ninjutsu choke technique either as a means of self-defense or as a competitive strategy to drop your opponent to the mat. The choke technique is employed when someone comes forcefully towards you while grabbing for your arms, shoulders or neck. Remember that the goal of ninjutsu practice is not to seriously injure your opponent, but to simply overpower them, so make sure that you do not apply too much force to the neck, which can cause serious permanent injury.

  2. Step 2

Prepare to perform the choke technique as soon as your opponent comes towards you with arms outreached. It is OK if your opponent gets a grip on your clothing and shoulders; however, the faster your response time the greater chance you have to complete the choke and more effective the technique.

  3. Step 3

Step quickly to the side towards your non-dominant hand, offsetting the balance of your opponent while weakening the strength of his grip. Lift your dominant hand, placing it along the inside of your opponent's arm and pressing your outer forearm to his inner forearm.

  4. Step 4

Push your hand forward quickly and forcefully towards your opponent's throat as you continue stepping to the side. Squeeze and push against your opponent until she falls to the ground.
