Things You'll Need:
- 2 Muay Thai forearm pads
- 1 Muay Thai belly pad
-
Step 1
Place the Muay Thai pads on your forearms, securing them firmly yet comfortably on the inside of the forearms. You should also wear a large belly pad so that your partner can practice front and round kicks with the center of the body as the target as well as protect yourself from badly thrown kicks.
-
Step 2
Keep a firm stance with feet spread wide and hold the forearm pads at a slight angle so that the bottom of the pads are even with the top of the belly pad.
-
Step 3
Remain in more or less the same position as your partner throws his Muay Thai front and roundhouse kicks; however, you can attempt to make arm blocks as you would in competition, helping you both to perfect your skills. Just make sure that unprotected areas of your body remain covered with the pads.
-
Step 4
Move towards your partner slightly as he throws front kicks so avoid being thrown backwards with the force of the kick. Make sure that you keep an open communication with your partner at all times, telling him to stop if you feel pain or discomfort, if you need a break or if you need to readjust the pads.
