How to Choose a New Skin in Trillian

Trillian is a Windows-based instant messaging application that allows you to simultaneously connect to multiple IM services, such as Windows Live Messenger, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Yahoo! Messenger, Bonjour, Skype, Jabber, ICQ and AIM. SkinXML is Trillian's proprietary skin generating engine. Skins created with it are available for download from the Trillian skins gallery.

Instructions

      View the various Trillian IM skins available. Log on to the official Trillian skins gallery at CeruleanStudios. Decide which skin you'd like to display on your Trillian IM application window.

      Download the skin. Press the "Download" link or button next to the skin, marked with a blue downward arrow. The skin downloads as a .zip file.

      Extract all the files in the skin .zip file into the skins directory of the Trillian IM program folder. For example, extract the .zip files into c:\program files\Trillian\skins.

      Open the Trillian IM Application. Select "Trillian" from the Options menu at the top of the Trillian IM box.

      Click "Trillian Preferences" in the drop-down menu. Select the "Skins" icon. A list of available skins, including your newly downloaded skin appears to the right of the screen.

      Select the name of your newly downloaded skin. Click "Close."

      Respond "Yes" when asked if you want to reload Trillian. Your new skin won't be applied to the screen until you reload the application.

      Wait for Trillian IM to reload and then see the skin in action.
