Things You'll Need:
- 4 pork chops
- 32 ounce jar sauerkraut
- Sugar
- Broiling pan or 9 x 13 inch baking pan with baking rack
- Casserole dish
- Cooking spray
- Spoon
- Fork
- Tongs
-
Step 1
Preheat the boiler section of your oven. Spray the bottom and grill of the broiler pan with cooking spray. If you don't have a broiler pan, you can use a 9 x 13 baking pan with a baking rack placed on top.
-
Step 2
Pour the sauerkraut into the bottom part of the boiler pan. Sprinkle sugar in the sauerkraut and mix until the sugar is dissolved. Then taste it. Does it still taste sour? Then add more sugar and mix. Continue adding sugar and tasting until the sour taste is removed from the sauerkraut.
-
Step 3
Fit the grill on top of the broiler pan that has the sauerkraut in the bottom. Place the pork chops on the broiler grill. Put the pan in the oven or, if it is separate, the broiler part of the oven.
-
Step 4
Broil the pork chops on one side until they are done. Then flip the pork chops and finish cooking them. While they are cooking, the drippings from the pork chops should drip into the sauerkraut. When the chops are done, remove the pan from the broiler and set the oven to 350 degrees.
-
Step 5
Transfer the cooked pork chops from the broiler pan to the casserole dish. Spoon the sweetened sauerkraut over the pork chops. Pour the remaining liquid from the bottom of the broiler pan over the sauerkraut and pork chops.
-
Step 6
Place casserole pan in the preheated 350 degree oven. Bake for 30 minutes or until the liquid is absorbed by the pork chops. Remove from the oven.
-
Step 7
To serve, place a bed of sweetened sauerkraut on the plate and put a pork chop on top.
