Olympics memorabilia offers a variety of choices for the collector. Getting into this hobby could mean collecting autographs of some of the great athletes such as swimmer Mark Spitz, sprinter Carl Lewis or gymnast Olga Korbut or other collectibles, such as commemorative pins or stamps or the mother of them all: the medals. With each Olympic Games comes a whole new batch of collectibles to add to your collection.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine the Olympic games from which you want to collect. The Winter Olympics and the Summer Olympics offer a variety of sports from which to choose.

  2. Step 2

Start your collection with small collectibles, such as pins or stamps. These are not only the cheapest collectibles, but also the most common.

  3. Step 3

Attend the Olympic Games of your choice. Luckily, the summer games and the winter games occur every four years. This gives you ample time to plan for these trips and an opportunity to decide what collectible you would like next. By attending the Olympics, you can be sure what you buy is authentic.

  4. Step 4

Save your money. Because the Olympics are a rare sporting event, the price of collectibles can be outrageous. The Ingrid O'Neil Sports & Olympic Memorabilia website lists authentic Olympic collectibles well into the thousands of dollars.

  5. Step 5

Join Olympic collectors clubs. One of the most popular and world renown clubs of this nature is the Society of Olympic Collectors. Membership information is available through their website. Joining this club will allow you to attend auctions, events, and dinners, all revolving around the sale and collection of Olympic memorabilia.
