Jeans are one of the more versatile types of clothing since you can dress them up or dress them down. But in order for jeans to look flattering on a thin figure, you need to make sure they fit properly. While this might sound easy because thin always seems to be in, choosing flattering jeans for a thin figure can still be challenging. These steps will help with the selection.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Take your body measurements at home so that you can give them to the sales clerk to help her find the best jeans for your skinny figure.

  2. Step 2

Pick two-tone jeans to add substance to very thin thighs. A little fading at the center with the outer edges of the jean darker will balance your thighs.

  3. Step 3

Make sure you select jeans with a long inseam if you're thin and tall. Try on jeans that come up to 34 inches long.

  4. Step 4

Watch the positioning of the back pockets carefully. You'll want them positioned in such a way to add curves to your derrière. Pockets with pleats and adornments are a good choice when you're choosing flattering jeans for a thin figure.

Tips & Warnings
  • Know the difference between the main styles of jeans: classic, relaxed, and slim fit. Classic jeans have a straight or slightly tapered leg and sit higher at the waist. Relaxed jeans are typically roomier and lower-waisted. Slim-fit jeans hug the hips, thighs and buttocks, and ride low at the waist.
  • Try on many jeans to find the perfect fit.
  • Be aware of the four main cuts in jeans: skinny, boot, straight and flare.
  • Brands of jeans that look good on a thin figure include Gap Long and Lean Jeans, Skinny Crop Jeans from Old Navy or the Sundown Wide or Skinny Leg Jean from Lucky Brand Jeans.
