Step 1
Buy your father tickets to a Major League Baseball game. One good thing about Father's Day is that it occurs during the summer. Taking your dad to a Major League Baseball game is an excellent way to both enjoy the nice weather and spend an afternoon or evening with your dad.
-
Step 2
Pick up some team ties to give to your dad. You can find these at many local department stores as well as on the official websites of your dad's favorite sports teams. Try to find ties from every sports team your father cheers for, thus making Father's Day a theme this year.
-
Step 3
Order a team golf set for you dad if he enjoys the game. Every professional sports team offers golf balls and bags that have team logos on them. You can find these at team shops and on the official websites of your dad's favorite teams.
-
Step 4
Buy your dad “Baseball: A Film by Ken Burns” on DVD. This is the ultimate documentary on the game, going back all the way to the humble beginnings of baseball in the United States and ending at the start of the 90s. Any sports fan would love to own this collection of stories, highlights and insight from some of the greats to every play the game.
-
Step 5
Give your dad a big screen HDTV for Father's Day. This is a more expensive Father's Day gift but will be greatly appreciated by your dad. Now he won't have to go out to a bar to watch his favorite sports teams in high definition. Remind him, though, that he'll have to buy HD cable or satellite on his own!
-
Step 6
Buy your dad a DVD commemorating a championship won by his favorite team. Unless your father has been rooting for losing franchises his entire life, he has seen at least one of his favorite teams win a title. By searching online, you can find DVDs with highlights from those championship season. Websites such as Vintage Sports Video offer these DVDs and they make great presents for any occasion during the year.
