Step 1
Sit in the wheelchair and lift it onto its back legs by leaning backward and displacing the chair. This means pushing forward on the wheels with your gloved hands as you step off the footrest with you left foot and use it as a pivot.
-
Step 2
Spin the wheelchair into circles by pushing forward on one wheel and pushing backward on the other wheel. The wheelchair should spin in a circle at a constant speed at least 20 times before moving onto the next step.
-
Step 3
Stop the wheelchair on the back legs and alter the direction of the spinning. Repeat the spin at least 20 times before stopping.
-
Step 4
Rock back and forth on the back wheels of the wheelchair in short straight lines. Do this at least 20 times to help build up arm strength and distance perception.
-
Step 5
Try spinning slowly in the wheel chair removing one hand and then the other to practice one-handed motion. This is a more difficult skill to build into your practice routine; leave it out if you are a beginner.
-
Step 6
Reverse up and down a ramp in the wheelchair to increase strength and coordination. Be sure to rest if you get tired as this routine calls for a lot of upper body strength.
-
Step 7
Repeat the routine on a daily basis to increase trick speed.
