In order to get the right amount of flexibility and comfort when wearing stilts, they must be adjusted correctly before using them. If adjusted correctly, the user will be able to walk, run and jump freely without fear of damaging legs or joints. Always adjust stilts to fit comfortably but securely on the legs so there is no fear of the stilts slipping from the legs.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Put the stilts on while sitting down with the legs extended, and make sure the control bar is sitting comfortably below the knee joint. The control bar should not be above the knee joint or over the knee, as this can be uncomfortable and potentially dangerous because it hinders walking, running and jumping.

  2. Step 2

Take the stilts off of the leg to begin adjusting them in a well-lit area.

  3. Step 3

Remove the Allen wrench bolts from along the side of the stilts by turning them counter-clockwise using the Allen wrench.

  4. Step 4

Raise the stilt legs evenly after the bolts have been removed, so they are of equal height when wearing them.

  5. Step 5

Align the bolt holes in the legs of the stilts once the correct height has been reached.

  6. Step 6

Place bolts back into the holes of the stilts and tighten well, but do not over-tighten, with the Allen Wrench. Turn each bolt until it is firmly in place, and then go back and tighten them with the wrench.

  7. Step 7

Put stilts on once again to make sure the stilts are level, comfortable, and the control bar is still sitting below the knee joint. If all three of these qualifications have not been met, stilts should be removed and re-adjusted.

Tips & Warnings
  • Stilts should be adjusted frequently to ensure they correctly fit the legs and feet, especially if children or teenagers will be wearing the stilts.
  • Bolts make occasionally loosen, so check them regularly. Always keep an Allen wrench on hand to check the bolts.
