Step 1
Instruct your opponent to hold a board with two fingers. His fingers should grasp the top edges of the board, and he should turn the board so that the wide, flat portion of the board should face you. His arm should be about his shoulder height. You should also make sure that the grain of the board is running across the board rather than up and down.

Step 2
Visualize the speed of your punch traveling not just to the board by through it as you do suspended board breaking. In this manner, you will have the momentum and force necessary to break the board.

Step 3
Make sure that your body is lined up properly when you do suspended board breaking. You should be in a martial arts stand, with one foot before the other and your weight low and centered.

Step 4
Be sure that your shoulder will be in the same line as your punch. You don't want to have to twist your arm up or lift your shoulder as you are doing a suspended board break. Your shoulder should be on the same plane as the middle of the board.
