Chicken and rice is a hearty all-in-one dish that you bake in your oven. If you have made a chicken and rice dish for your family or friends to enjoy, then you will also want to check the chicken dish carefully to see if it is cooked. However, you also do not want to burn yourself. Learn how to easily check chicken and rice and enjoy this saucy meal.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Oven gloves
  • Spoon

Step1
Take your dish out of the oven with oven mitts on and place it on a solid surface. Place a cutting board on your counter beforehand if you want to rest the chicken and rice dish on it. Using this board will make sure the dish does not damage your counter.
Step2
Keep your oven mitts on. If you do not have oven mitts, then use pot holders to protect your hands from getting burnt. Some glass dishes can get extremely hot in the oven as well as any lid or tin foil you have placed on top of the dish.
Step3
Lift one corner of the lid or tin foil off the edge of the dish carefully. Make sure that you keep your eyes and face away from this end when you pull the cover off. Allow the steam to exit from the dish and let it sit for a minute or so.
Step4
Take the rest of the cover or tin foil off the chicken and rice dish and allow the rest of the steam to leave the dish. If your dish is extremely hot and still boiling, let it sit on the counter for 5 to 8 minutes. Make sure the edges of the chicken and rice dish are slightly brown.
Step5
Take a spoon and smooth the edge of your chicken and rice dish. Make sure it isn't sticking to the dish by running your spoon along every edge of the dish. Stick the spoon in the middle and check to see if the chicken and rice and sauce have all blended together into one tasty dish for friends and family.
