How to Make Crepe Batter

Crepes can be filled with an almost endless variety of delicious ingredients, making them perfect for any meal of the day. Made from a few basic ingredients that can usually be found in any kitchen, deliciously light and fluffy crepes are a snap to make. Does this Spark an idea?

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 5 tbsp. butter
  • 1/4 cup sugar

Instructions

      Place 5 tbsp. butter in a small frying pan and heat it just until it's completely melted. Remove the melted butter from the heat and set it aside to cool.

      Pour 1 cup milk into a large mixing bowl. Add 2 cups flour gradually with the mixer set on medium speed, mixing the batter thoroughly with each addition of milk. When the flour is blended in, add 1/4 cup sugar and continue to mix well.

      Break two eggs into a separate bowl and whisk them together lightly. Add the whisked eggs to the batter and beat it for several minutes.

      Add the melted butter slowly to the crepe batter, mixing constantly.

      Place a strainer over another mixing bowl and pour the batter through the strainer to remove any remaining lumps. Discard the lumpy batter.

      Store the batter in the refrigerator until you're ready to make the crepes.

Tips & Warnings

  • Crepe batter can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for several days. If the butter has separated from the batter, just whisk it well to blend it before you cook the crepes.
