Carrots are a delicious, healthy food addition to any dish. Carrots are often used when cooking pot roast or beef stew. There is more to cutting a carrot than simply taking a knife and chopping it up. Here are some steps to help you properly cut carrots.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wash the carrots well with warm tap water. Make sure you clean off all of the dirt and dust that may be present on each individual carrot.

  2. Step 2

Shave the outside skin off of the carrot with a peeler or a knife. The underlying skin will be a bright orange color.

  3. Step 3

Cut the large end and the small, pointed end off of each individual carrot. Dispose of the end pieces.

  4. Step 4

Use a sharp knife to cut the first carrot at a 45 degree angle. Turn the carrot a quarter of a turn and cut another pieces at a 45 degree angle. Continue cutting the carrot in this manner until you reach the end of the carrot. Cut each carrot individually. Cutting the carrot at a 45 degree angle gives you a piece of carrot that is nice to display.
