How to Direct the Process of a Beauty Pageant
A beauty pageant can be a wonderful experience that encourages growth and self esteem for the contestants. In order to be successful, the beauty pageant process must be an ordered one. You create that order with the addition of a few items.

Create an application for the contestants. The application includes all the normal things that you expect like name, address, telephone number, date of birth and marital status, if that is important to the contest. Include any special information that aids you in deciding whether the contestant is qualified for the pageant.

Add an essay question or two to the application as part of the beauty pageant process. The essay question checks for attitude and ability to express thoughts. If the answers are negative or unintelligent, the candidate may not be right for the contest. You want a person that sees the competition as a great opportunity and exemplifies the feel and aura of the pageant.

Ask for personal references. Check the references to make sure that the contestant has a good reputation. Nothing sullies the competition like contestants of ill repute.

Tell the contestant if they don't measure up and outline a method to make changes so that they are eligible in the future. It's unfair not to give feedback and simply say no. Include steps the prospective contestant can take to improve her chances to compete.

Create a list of regulations and rules that the contestant needs to follow when they compete in the pageant. Make the rules specific and easy to understand.

List the outcomes and punishments for breaking the rules. Make sure that you include warning steps and final warnings. This allows the contestant some leeway if they don't understand the rules or felt that their actions weren't a breech.

Make the list available to all that participate in the beauty pageant process. Each contestant should have a copy and sign a paper to show she received it.
