Reorienting pictures in iStopMotion animation is the process of changing how the picture is oriented in the screen and viewer and how the process of taking the picture is oriented to the camera. In iStopMotion you can change either or both types of picture orientation in a few steps using the options menu listed down the right side of the page.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Select the "Recording" tab at the bottom right of the iStopMotion screen.

  2. Step 2

Click on "Orientation" under the "Source" heading in the options listed down the right of the screen.

  3. Step 3

Choose an orientation for your frames from the drop-down menu. Your frame as shown in the iStopMotion animation working area reorients according to your selection. You can leave the orientation set to "Normal" or you can rotate it or flip it as you choose.

  4. Step 4

Go down to the next subheading, "Recording," in the list located down the right side of the screen. Two options appear for recording your action, "Single Frames" and "Continuous." The iStopMotion default is the single frames option.

  5. Step 5

Change the default to "Continuous" to record normally rather than in individual, single frames. This is useful for action that happens fast, such as recording a falling object.

  6. Step 6

Enter how long you want your continuous record as a number in the entry box located after "Rec. Time."

  7. Step 7

Select "Seconds" or "Frames" from the toggle button located just to the right of the number entry box.

Tips & Warnings
  • Check the system requirements before downloading the demo or purchasing the software license. IStopMotion only runs on Mac. To get the best results, Boinx suggests Mac OS X Tiger, QuickTime version 7.1 at least, a graphics card with OpenGL support and the still camera plugin Mac OS X v 10.3 or newer.
  • Boinx Software recommends that users of Mac OS X v10.2.x run iStopMotion 1.5, and Mac OS X v10.4 "Tiger" users run iStopMotion version 1.8.1 or newer.
