Step 1
Find a good gap when you're learning how to do a half cab over a gap. You don't want to start with something big. Something like a manhole cover will do nicely (especially if it's in a road with little traffic).
-
Step 2
Get some good speed when you're attempting to half cab over a gap. You not only want to get height for the half cab, but some forward momentum as well so you can clear your gap.
-
Step 3
Pop a little earlier than you would normally as you half cab over a gap. This will allow you to get a little extra height as well as help you to make your half cab a little broader.
-
Step 4
Start by working up to half cabbing over a gap by doing an Ollie first. Don't worry about turning around—just get going at a good clip, pop that nose a little early, and sail over that gap, making sure you land nicely after it's all over. This will help you get an idea of the timing.
-
Step 5
Do the half cab over the gap next. Thanks to your Ollie work, you'll know just when to pop your board to get yourself over that gap.
