The first thing you need to do before you start practicing your music is to set up your electronic keyboard. In case there's not a professional sound expert around, it's important to know a couple of extra things for your performances. Knowing how to place the keyboard on the stand and where the cords go is basically all you've got to figure out to set up your keyboard.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Set up the stand for the keyboard before getting the keyboard out or attempting to move it. Some keyboards are heavier than others, especially ones at the higher end of the price range. Make sure your stand is secure and on level ground before proceeding.
Step2
Use both hands to move the keyboard onto the stand. Settle it into position, making sure it's evenly balanced.
Step3
Plug in the power cord to the keyboard, then plug that cord in to a power source. This is the safe way to power your keyboard and any other appliances.
Step4
Take the lead and plug it into the snake multi-cable connector. Make note of the number you plugged the lead into. This way, when you get back to the sound booth, you'll know where the keyboard is plugged in.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you or the musician you're setting up for has more than one keyboard, there are stands available that can accommodate them in a stacked position. Make sure all prongs are secure before placing the keyboards. Put the lower, larger board in first, then the smaller board on the higher rack.
