1
Measure and cut the wood for the size of the box that you want. You should have 4 sides, and a bottom and top piece. If you are making a box with a hinged lid then you need to allow the top to be about one inch bigger all around.
-
2
Use the biscuit joiner to join the four sides together. Mark with a pencil where the sides will line up. Then with the biscuit joiner cut the holes into the sides of the wood by pushing the biscuit joiner carefully into place. Apply glue to the holes and then put in the discs. Then add the the other slide, slipping the discs into the joint. Clamp and allow to dry.

3
Nail the joints into place to hold them more securely. Glue the bottom to the rest of the box. Clamp and allow to dry and then nail that piece into place.
-
4
Sand the edges of the box so that they are smooth. Take time to make sure the edges are flush with the sides. Sand the lid of the box as well.
-
5
Paint or finish the wood box and the lid. You may want to do two or three coats, allowing time for each coat to dry completely.
-
6
Attach the hinges to the box using the screw driver and screws. Then attach the lid to the box.
