There is nothing more relaxing than having a pool in your backyard. Forget fighting traffic to go to the beach. Your friends and family can simply enjoy the water right from the comfort of your own home. However, if your pool is enclosed to keep out bugs and pests, the screen can be hard to clean. Here is how to climb onto a pool screen enclosure.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Pool which is enclosed by a screen
  • Step ladder
  • Rake or tool to remove debris
  1. Step 1

Set your step ladder up correctly. This means opening it to its full width and making sure you have locked the arms. Also when placing the step ladder on the ground, make sure that it is on solid ground and not soft soil, where the balance can shift. If need be, put a piece of plywood down on the ground for firm footing. Also, putting a sandbag or something heavy against the ladder will keep it in place.

  2. Step 2

Ascend the first few steps of your ladder. Find your balance and keep both feet squarely on the steps.

  3. Step 3

Reach and grasp your rake (which you have smartly placed next to the ladder.) You always want to establish your balance on a ladder before reaching for a tool.

  4. Step 4

Move up the rest of the ladder and begin removing debris off your pool screen enclosure.

Tips & Warnings
  • If someone is working with you, they can steady the ladder and hold it while you clean the pool screen enclosure.
  • Be sure to use a plastic rake on the pool screen enclosure when cleaning. A metal rake will tear the screen.
  • Never step on the top step of the ladder. You are taking a great risk of falling, as your body has nothing to brace itself against.
