Step 1
Hold two rings, lined up together, in your dominant hand. Slip your middle finger through the opening and use the others for support. Separate the two rings so one is slightly above the other.
-
Step 2
Lower the rings to your waist level. This trick requires a great deal of force to get both rings to spin; this is where you get that momentum. Quickly bring the rings upward to chest height, and snap your wrist so both spin back toward your body.
-
Step 3
Shift your hand back and forth vigorously, keeping your middle finger at the center of the rings and tight against both. This motion helps to separate the rings and maintain their speed. Ideally, the gravity will naturally separate the rings because you began with one above the other. If the trick works, the rings should form a rotating figure eight.
-
Step 4
Choose from two different methods to smoothly stop the rings from spinning. The easiest way is to simply slap the rings hard against your thigh. A more complicated stop is to stop one ring by extending your thumb and letting them run into each other, and then letting the second ring and clamping them together with your whole hand.

Step 5
Move on to alternate moves. This is relatively simple once the basic idea of ring spinning is known.
