Car window tint will look cheap and haphazard if you don't smooth it out during the install. It's pretty easy to install window tint correctly, making a smooth and impressive surface on your car windows. Take your time and do it the right way.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tint liner
  • Baby shampoo and distilled water
  • Spray bottle
  • Chizler
  • Hard card
  1. Step 1

Spray your car windows. Wipe it off with a lint-free cloth. Make sure to remove all the solution. Use a chizler tool to remove any debris left behind. If you don't get it, your car tint won't be smooth. It'll bubble up instead and be more prone to peeling.

  2. Step 2

Remove the weather gasket from around the car window. This is the strip of rubber than prevents water from leaking into your car.

  3. Step 3

Wet the inside of the window liberally. Remove the film from the tint liner. Spray the sticky side of the window tint liner with water. Make sure to saturate it.

  4. Step 4

Roll down the window slightly. Apply the tint liner along the top of the window glass. Make sure to line the tint up to the very top of the glass.

  5. Step 5

Tuck the film under the bottom gasket, the rubber piece along the bottom of the window.

  6. Step 6

Anchor the tint by using a hard card. A credit card will work. Rub the card along the line to get it in place. Spray the surface of the tint liner once again to make it easier to handle.

  7. Step 7

Use the hard card to anchor the film down at the center of the window. Start at the center of the window and squeegee the water out by running the hard card along the surface. Re-install the weather gasket.

Tips & Warnings
  • Clean your car windows using a solution of baby shampoo mixed with distilled water. Put the solution into a spray bottle for easy application.
  • Make sure you remove all the bubbles when you're squeegeeing the tint liner.
  • Use a jammer to get the window tint under the bottom gasket, if needed.
