These days it seems everyone is trying to be more "green." An added benefit of reusing, reducing and recycling, is that you will save money as well. Here are some ideas for ways to use glass food jars.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make gifts from glass food jars. Food and bath gifts in jars are very popular these days; you can buy them at discount and department stores, but why not reuse glass food jars for a lovely, thoughtful homemade gift?

  2. Step 2

Fill a jar with potpourri and tie a ribbon around it for a pretty, fragrant addition to any room.

  3. Step 3

Pour an inch or two of small glass stones or river rocks in different sized jars and place a candle in each. Place on a tray for a decorative arrangement to dress up any table.

  4. Step 4

Create a souvenir. On your next trip to the beach, gather some sea shells and sand. Fill a few glass jars halfway with sand and top with various shells.

  5. Step 5

Collect several similar jars. Paint the outside with food-safe paint that matches your kitchen for one-of-a-kind canisters.

on 10/14/2008 I really like the idea of river rocks and candles. I plan to try this idea in my sun room. Thanks for sharing.
