How to Jump on a Skateboard

If you want to learn to skateboard like Tony Hawk, you are going to have to learn how to jump! In skateboarding, a jump is known as an "ollie." It's a trick that will take some determination to master. With a little perseverance, you will be ollieing like a pro!

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

  • Skateboard
Step1
Stand on your skateboard with the back foot just slightly over the edge of the board, and the front foot about in the middle.
Step2
Bend your knees and press the tail end of the board down to the ground, with your back foot.
Step3
Quickly following the above step, jump and push your front foot towards the nose end of the board.
Step4
As you slide your front foot up, begin to quickly push the front of the board down towards the ground.

Tips & Warnings

  • The skateboard should "stick" to you during your jump. Following these steps in one smooth motion, should result in a good jump.
  • Always wear protective gear while skateboarding.
