Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Get some idea of how far the trip is to and from where the destination is. Something like 10 miles for someone just starting out would be a bad thing and I wouldn't recommend someone who is not used to that distance attempting it. For newer people, if the route is normal one mile there and one mile back, this is how to increase the miles to two each way.
Step2
Start out by riding the bike. Keep on riding it until a point of minor exhaustion is reached--for example, sore leg muscles or pedalling is very hard.
Step3
When the point of minor exhaustion is reached get off and walk next to the bike while pushing it along with, if able. If walking is even hard pull the bike off to the site of the road and sit where possible in a place out of the dangers of the road and drink some water that was brought along if necessary.
Step4
When rested enough to move on, do it and repeat step three if the minor exhaustion returns. If a more major exhaustion is reached, like not being able to breathe, rest a while and then go back home instead of continuing as it is best to not push your body to a dangerous level.
