Many homes and apartments have an open room design that does not fully separate different rooms. Use room dividers to make completely separate rooms for a cozier atmosphere. You can also use portable room dividers to change the size of your rooms temporarily.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use room dividers to separate the kitchen from the living room. When your guests are waiting for dinner, you do not want to let them see you fumbling in the kitchen. Use a portable lightweight divider with bifold doors and close it when you need privacy.

  2. Step 2

Add a play space to your children's rooms with room dividers. If you have two children sharing one bedroom, you can split the room down the middle. Alternatively, for one child you can divide the room into a sleeping area and a playroom area.

  3. Step 3

Make a closet with room dividers. Use an L-shaped divider to section off a portion of the room for an extra closet or storage space in that room.

  4. Step 4

Decorate with room dividers. Room dividers come in various materials and some have shelves built into them. Place the room divider right up against the wall and use the shelves for your knick-knacks.

  5. Step 5

Section off your office with room dividers. If you share your office with a co-worker split the office down the middle for privacy when you work.

  6. Step 6

Take room dividers to your next church or community meeting. Many times communities hold meetings in church or school auditoriums or gymnasiums where there is no real privacy.

  7. Step 7

Use room dividers on wheels from screenflex.com and roll in your walls. Set up by rolling it out and take down by rolling it back together for an instant meeting room.
