Because of their reliability and recommendations from current customers, Apple's laptops are gaining popularity. Apple laptop computers, better known as Mac notebooks (MacBooks), may be what you're looking for. There's such a wide selection in choice that you're going to have to do your homework to get exactly what you're looking for.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Know your viewing needs. If you're going to be using your MacBook for video streaming, consider the MacBook Pro laptops, which carry standard 15- and 17-inch screens. The MacBook base model comes with a standard 13-inch display screen.

  2. Step 2

Determine your hard disk space and memory requirements. All laptops in the MacBook line come standard with at least 512MB of memory (RAM) and start with at least 80GB of hard disk space. Higher models in the MacBook family have more memory and disk space, but you can always elect to add more to the laptop you're considering.

  3. Step 3

Set a price range. Apple laptops can range in price from about $1,000 for the basic MacBook to more than $2,000 for the MacBook Pro. Taking your needs and requirements from Steps 1 and 2, determine a price range that you're comfortable with, knowing that the more features you add will increase the overall price for your laptop.

  4. Step 4

View the choices available. The three main categories of Apple laptops are the MacBook, the MacBook Air and the MacBook Pro. Through the Apple Store website, you can take the "Which MacBook Are You?" challenge.

  5. Step 5

Narrow down your selection. By viewing the choices available in Step 4, you may determine that you're leaning toward the MacBook Air because it's lightweight, which makes it easy for you to travel with.

  6. Step 6

Read the reviews. You can further compare Apple laptops by taking your top choices and reading the consumer reviews. These reviews may point you in a new direction for comparisons of other Apple computers or may confirm your first selection.
