How to Remove McAfee From a Registry
If your subscription to McAfee has run out or the program has become corrupt, then you need to remove it from your computer. This program isn't easy to remove, but by following a few steps you should be able to completely remove it from your system.

Remove McAfee from your control panel by opening your "Start" menu, clicking "Control Panel," and then selecting "Add/Remove Programs." Then scroll down until you find "McAfee Security Center," click all the boxes for all McAfee programs on your computer and then select "Remove." After the removal is complete, restart your computer.

Open "My Computer," and then go to your McAfee program folder. Do this if you notice McAfee Security Center hasn't been completely un-installed. Open the "\Agent\App" folder, and then find all the files with an ".adf" extension. Delete them and then repeat Step 1.

Download the MCPR removal tool to your desktop if the two steps above didn't completely remove McAfee from your system. Close any McAfee programs which are running and then click the "MCPR.exe" file. After the removal program finishes, restart your computer when you see the prompt message asking you to.

Select the "View Log" (if the MCPR displays a red cross symbol during clean-up or shows that the status is incomplete). The red cross appears when the tool can't remove all the registry items; the "View Log" file will show these items like this if that is the problem: "WINERR RegOpenKeyEx() failed. Error: 5."

Open your "Register Editor" by going to your "Start Menu," clicking "Run" and typing "regedit" in the box. Delete each key that you saw in the "View Log." Then close your "Register Editor" and restart your computer to complete the removal process.

Tips & Warnings
If you are using Windows Vista, then in Step 3, right-click on the file and then select the "Run as Administrator" option.
Editing your registry keys can be dangerous to your system, so before you do it make sure to make a backup of the keys you plan to edit or delete. If you don't feel confident about doing it, either get someone else to help you or call a technician.
