No other weight loss program has been around as long or has been as popular as Weight Watchers. There are many positive aspects to their program, and if you're wondering how Weight Watchers compares to other programs and diets, there are a few things that you should know. Once you know the right questions to ask, you can make an informed decision for your health.

  1. Step 1

Compare the costs. The heart of the Weight Watchers system lies in its support group. Traditionally, you attend weekly or monthly meetings to discuss your progress and support other dieters along their journey. However, the meetings aren't free, so it's important to consider this when comparing diet programs.

  2. Step 2

Factor in the availability of the products for each diet. When evaluating diets and weight-loss plans, it's important to availability of appropriate food in the grocery store or in restaurants. You want to know where you stand with your diet no matter where you eat. Weight Watchers has a partnership with Applebee's, and many products in grocery stores tell you how many Weight Watchers points a serving has, which can make eating on the go much easier.

  3. Step 3

Understand the basis for the diet. Some diets work by cutting out sugar or other carbohydrates, while others focus on just eating healthier and making better food choices. Weight Watchers falls into the "better food choices" category, so it works better for many people who have trouble limiting specific food groups or items.
