Instructions

    • 1

Place a small amount of all purpose flour in a bowl. If desired, add equal parts of buckwheat flour, whole wheat flour or any other flour of your choice.

    • 2

Add enough salt to the flour to flavor.

    • 3

Stir in enough tap water to make a soft dough. Knead it in your hands like play dough, and form it into a round, thin shape.

    • 4

Heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan and cook the bread in the hot oil for a few minutes on each side. Don't turn the heat too high, because the bread will cook on the outside, but not in the middle. It should take at least 5 to 6 minutes per side.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want your bread to rise, substitute warm water for cold tap water, and stir a package of active dry yeast into the warm water. Allow it to dissolve, and add the flour as directed.

  • Add a dash of baking powder if you like, but go easy, because although it will made the bread lighter, it can also add a bitter flavor.

  • If the top of the bread isn't brown enough to suit you, place it under the broiler for a few minutes. Watch it carefully, because it can turn from brown to black very quickly.
