How to Compare Golf Drivers
Whether you're new to the game of golf or a seasoned pro, the driver is one of the most important clubs in your bag. Take a quick look in the store, and you'll find plenty of choices. The size, material and length of the driver are some of the factors to consider in your buying decision.

1
Look at the size of the golf driver's head. Options include standard, full and oversized club heads. Golf drivers with oversized heads are best for experienced golfers because there's less control, and it's harder to connect with the sweet spot. Smaller club heads make it easier to control the club.
-
2
Check the type of material that composes the club head. Golf drivers made of titanium are more expensive, but stronger. Stainless steel golf drivers cost less but have less of a sweet spot.

-
3
Inspect the golf driver's face angle, which is square, open or closed. The angle affects the accuracy of the shot. If you tend to slice the ball, then purchase a closed-face driver, which corrects for the slice.
-
4
Examine the length of the golf driver. Longer clubs allow you to hit the ball farther. But, longer clubs are harder to control. Standard length clubs, which are 43½ to 44 inches, are best for most players.
-
5
Notice the golf driver's shaft material. Clubs with steel shafts are cheaper, offer more control and are more durable. Clubs with graphite shafts are easier to swing, but are more expensive and not as durable.
-
6
Analyze the flex of the driver's shaft. Types of flex include ladies, senior, regular, stiff and extra stiff. The amount of flex affects the distance you hit the ball.
