• Distilled water
• Baking soda
• Water

• Petroleum jelly

1. Put on your gloves and protective eyewear before doing any maintenance work on the golf cart's battery. Remove your jewelry to protect it from any accidental contact with battery acid.

2. Make sure to charge the golf cart batteries properly. Check to make sure that water covers the battery plates. Add distilled water if necessary. Remove the charging cord when the battery reaches a full charge.

3. Examine the battery cases to make sure there are no cracks. Maintain a tight seal on the battery caps.

4. Clean the exterior of the batteries with a mixture of baking soda and water. It's best not to use any commercial cleaner on them. Rinse the batteries with clear water. Wipe the batteries dry with a clean cloth.

5. Keep the battery posts of the golf cart tightened. Coat them periodically with a light coating of petroleum jelly to help prevent corrosion.

6. Check the tires periodically on the golf cart. Make sure they have the proper amount of air in them and that they still have good tread on them. Replace tires that are showing signs of wear.

7. Take the golf cart to a reputable mechanic periodically for routine maintenance checks. A properly trained mechanic has the tools to help you properly maintain your golf cart investment.
