How to Add Smiley Icons to Forum Posts

Add feeling to your forum posts by putting smiley icons on them. Smiley icons, also known as emoticons, reflect your emotion-you can choose a happy face, sad face, a crying one, an angry one. When it is hard to say it in words use icons that indicate you are sticking your tongue out, rolling on the floor laughing or giving your sarcastic smile. Here is how.

  • Go to the forum where you want to make your posts. Click on "Reply" to the post you are answering and type your answer.

  • Insert smiley icons into the posts using the smileys the forum provides. Most forums provide at least basic icons.

  • Look at either the top or the bottom of your reply post box. You will see an icon with a smiley face in it. When you run your mouse over it, the smiley will say "smile", "emoticon" or a similar word.

  • Click directly on the smiley face. A box will pop up with many faces in it. Look at the faces and choose the best one for the post you are making to the forum.

  • Check your post. The smiley icon inserts where you left off in words. If this is not where you want the smiley icon, press the backspace key.

  • Type your post, inserting the different smiley icons as you type. When you are finished, choose preview and review your post. Change your post if you choose or select "Post to forum."

  • View your post on the forum by refreshing your screen. If you are not happy with the way it turned out, choose "Edit," and type your post again, inserting the smiley icons where you choose.
