Social networking website Myspace.com is a place where hook-ups, politics and music collide. If you are a music artist trying to get your name out, Myspace can be a very valuable tool in reaching out to fans. Here is how to become a featured artist on the site.

    Sign Up For Myspace

  1. Step 1

    Go to http://myspace.com and scroll down to the bottom of the screen where it reads "Create Your Profile." Click on the link.

  2. Step 2

    Select the link on the right that reads "Band or Musician." This takes you to the sign-up form for musical artists.

  3. Step 3

    Read the privacy policy and terms and conditions of the site before continuing.

  4. Entering Your information

  5. Step 1

    Fill out the application from top to bottom. All questions are explanatory; just fill in the answer.

  6. Step 2

    Type in the email address you want to be associated with your account. When you're finished, confirm your email address.

  7. Step 3

    Fill in the name of your band or group.

  8. Step 4

    Enter in your password. Then, confirm your password.

  9. Step 5

    Choose the genre of your music.

  10. Step 6

    Select your country, zip code and language.

  11. Upload Your Music

    MySpace allows up to six songs to be uploaded to your profile. Be sure to choose your best six so your profile can get a listener's attention.

    Convert your music to MP3 format. MySpace accepts no other format.

  14. Step 3

    Go to your home page, and click on "Profile" on your control panel. Once there, click on "Manage Songs." There you can upload your music from your computer.

    Perform at concerts, open mic's and other opportunities. During or after your performance, tell your fans about your MySpace page.

  17. Step 2

    Upload material consistently on your MySpace page. Give the fans fresh material that is good enough to tell their friends about.

  18. Step 3

    Interact with your "Friends" on your page. Write blogs constantly or chat online with them. This helps you endear yourself to them.

  19. Step 4

    Continue following steps 1 through 3 until you begin to get multiple hits to your page. The web traffic you receive puts you in a position to become a featured artist on MySpace.
