1
Get some friendly probiotics to help treat the effects of lactose intolerance. Probiotics are living enzymes which aid digestion and elimination and can help to soothe gastrointestinal upset if you have ingested lactose. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions for dosage information.
-
2
Eat yogurt. Yes, yogurt. Yogurt is high in lactose; however, it is also high in probiotics. Not only is yogurt an excellent source of calcium, studies have shown that yogurt helps to soothe an upset stomach, even in those with lactose intolerance, as the live cultures help the body to produce the enzymes needed to digest lactose. Make sure the label says it has active and/or live cultures.
-
3
Purchase lactase enzyme tablets which will help your body to break down lactose, therefore treating the effects of intolerance. While tablets are best taken before you ingest foods containing lactose, taking a few when symptoms flare can help to ease symptoms. Again, always read the label carefully for dosage information.

4
Make a cup of chamomile tea when your symptoms begin to flare. Chamomile contains tannins which help to temporarily constrict the intestinal tract, reducing spasms and pain. Additionally, chamomile can help to neutralize gas and reduce bloating, a few of the common effects of lactose intolerance.
