Dyspareunia is a frustrating condition which causes pain during sex. Pain is most often felt in the genitals themselves; however, it can also occur in the pelvis or lower back. While the causes of dyspareunia are often unknown, it is often caused by hormonal imbalance and can almost always be treated simply and easily. Read on for some treatment tips.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Lubricants
  • Sublingual B12 (500 to 1000mcg)
  • Black cohosh supplements

Step1
Change a few lifestyle habits which can often play a huge role in the treatment of dyspareunia. Getting regular exercise, reducing stress and increase your intake of estrogenic foods such as soy, wild yams, wheat, rice and alfalfa can all help to balance your hormones and relieve pain during sex.
Step2
Use lubricants during sexual intercourse and experiment with various sexual positions in an attempt to relieve pain. This process will not only be beneficial, but can also be fun.
Step3
Take B12 supplements of 500 to 1,000 mcg in sublingual form each day. Not only is B12 one of the most common deficiencies, it is also estrogenic and is often used to ease the symptoms of menopause as well as hormone imbalance which may be the cause of dyspareunia.
Step4
Attempt to balance hormones with a supplement of black cohosh, an estrogenic herb often used to treat abnormal periods, menopause and hormonal imbalances. Always follow the manufacturer's directions for dosage information, and be patient, as it can take several weeks to notice a difference.
Step5
Speak with a doctor about medical treatments if you still suffer from dyspareunia. Medical treatments tend to be far more invasive and include hormone replacement therapy or even surgery if pain is caused due to abnormal genitalia; however, if home treatment is not working, these may be your only options.
