Baby feet have a tendency to get cold, making your baby uncomfortable and cranky. Keep your baby's feet toasty warm by crocheting baby booties. This pattern is very easy for talented crocheters and can be a good project for beginning crocheters. The finished slippers will be approximately 3 inches in length.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Size F crochet hook
  • Baby yarn in desired color
  • Coordinating ribbon
  • Stitch marker
  • Yarn needle

    Bottom of Slipper

  1. Step 1

Begin row one by chaining 30. Single crochet in second chain from hook and in each chain until the end. Chain one and turn.

  2. Step 2

Start row two by stitching two single crochets in the front loop of the first chain. Continue to put a single crochet in the front loop of each stitch. Place two single crochets in the last stitch. Chain one and turn.

  3. Step 3

Complete row three by single crocheting in the front loop of each stitch. Chain one and turn. Follow row three's directions for rows four through seven.

  4. Step 4

Continue to work row eight by crocheting only in the front loops. Decrease single crochet over the first two stitches. Single crochet in each stitch across the row, ending with a decrease single crochet over the last two stitches. Chain one and turn.

  5. Step 5

Work row nine by single crocheting in the front loop of each stitch. Fasten off leaving the yarn approximately 10 inches long.

  6. Step 6

Fold the crocheted piece with the short sides together. Use the 10 inch long strand of yarn to sew the short sides together with a yarn needle. Continue to stitch along the base chain, joining those stitches together at the bottom of the slipper. Fasten off and the hide the end.

  7. Cuff and Finishing

  8. Step 1

Attach the yarn at the same place that it was tied off previously. Slip stitch the loops on each side together for the first six stitches. Chain three, but do not turn.

  9. Step 2

Complete the first row by double crocheting in the front loop of each stitch around the opening. Do not join the round together, just chain three and turn.

  10. Step 3

Continue with row two by front post double crocheting in the first double crochet. Back post double crochet in the second double crochet. Continue around alternating the post until end of round. Do not join the round together, just chain four and turn.

  11. Step 4

Start row three by single crocheting in the front loop of the first stitch. Chain four and single crochet in the next stitch. Continue the pattern of chaining four and single crocheting around slipper. Fasten off and hide end.

  12. Step 5

Weave a 16-inch piece of ribbon though the cuff area. Tie in a bow at the front of the slipper.

  13. Step 6

Repeat all directions for the second slipper.

on 4/7/2009 Good directions for a beginner, without all the abrevations. A picture of the finished product would be nice, though.
