When a couple is celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary, the event, often hosted by their children or grandchildren, will be a momentous occasion in their lives. Keeping that in mind, write the invitations to reflect their life journey together and to encourage the recipients to share in the festivities.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Include the necessary information for a recipient to attend the celebration. Address where the event will take place, who is hosting it, whether or not presents are welcome and contact information to allow the guests to confirm their intent to attend.
Step2
Insert a favorite poem or a portion of the couple's wedding vows. Include something that resonates with them and that indicates the value of their love for one another.
Step3
Ask the couple or their children for two photographs, a current one that features the two of them together and one from the early days of their marriage or their original wedding photo. Place one on the cover of the invitation and the other inside. Alternately, use only one photograph on the invitation's front cover.
Step4
Write a historical insert to be included with the anniversary invitations. It's traditional to provide invited guests with a synopsis of the last 50 years in the couple's life. Interview the couple and ask about the places they visited, their children, their careers and what they consider as the high points in their marriage.
Step5
Consult a professional printer about printing the invitations if you aren't savvy in desktop publishing. Contact the printer at least two months in advance of the date you will need the invitations to ensure you have time to mail them. If long-distance guests are invited, plan to mail the invitations at least one month in advance.

Tips & Warnings

  • Purchase ready-to-print invitations from office supply stores and use a graphics program to design the invitations yourself to save money.
