Make finished textures of smooth, raked, swirled or add pebbles or stones to the stucco. Mix colors into the stucco or paint the stucco when finished applying it to the walls, or make a mural into the stucco before it dries. You'll find stucco siding materials at your local hardware store.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Measure the square footage for the area you want the stucco to cover. Have your contractor perform this step if you are hiring the stucco siding application.

  2. Step 2

Select what type of mixture you want to use for your stucco siding. There are a variety of mixtures depending on how you want your stucco to look, such as sand for a finer stucco finish or use small pebbles for a rougher finish.

  3. Step 3

Look for a traditional stucco siding that will last for 50 years because it expands and contracts with the weather. Or choose the new Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) stucco siding. This siding never cracks and gives your home insulation.

  4. Step 4

Read the label on the package of the stucco mixture to see how much square footage the package covers. All mixtures are different in how much area they cover.

  5. Step 5

Purchase the appropriate amount of stucco mixture from your local home improvement center (see Resources). If you hire a contractor, he will purchase the mixture for you.

  6. Step 6

Apply the stucco in three layers over a base. Purchase enough stucco mixture to cover these layers.

Tips & Warnings
  • Applying the stucco mixture requires hard work. It takes time and dedication to get your stucco applied, so consider hiring someone to get the work done.
