How to Use a Shampoo Color Cap

Coloring your hair is great for uplifting your mood, but getting it right and maintaining it is a hassle. Things You'll Need:

• Leftover color treatment
• Color-safe shampoo
• Mixing bowl
• Applicator brush

1. Mix your leftover color with about 1 tbsp. of color-safe shampoo in a mixing bowl with the applicator brush.

2. Apply the mixture to your ends with the applicator brush, and massage it into your hair down to the roots just like when you normally shampoo your hair.

3. Allow the color to set for 5 to 10 minutes. Make sure you let the treated shampoo sit in your hair for long enough to finish the setting process.

4. Rinse your hair and shampoo it with untreated color-safe shampoo. Then condition and style it like you normally do.

Tips & Warnings

• Read a magazine article or make yourself something to eat while you wait. Doing something while you wait for the color to set on your ends keeps you from jumping the gun on rinsing it out and wasting the effort.
• Using a color enhancing conditioner will also help maintain your look.
• Regular shampoo isn't designed to be used with color-treated hair. Color-safe shampoo is key to making sure that your home color treatments come out the way you wish.
