Ninjutsu is the martial arts techniques used by ninjas in Japan. They rely on stealth and espionage to achieve their mission, which is often deadly. Ninjas are trained to use their bodies as weapons and they usually carry a sword at their side. There are no rules in the art of ninjutsu. For sporting purposes, the ninja tactics are scaled back versions of the black-robed ways of assassination.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Carry the sword in a sheath at your side. You should be able to draw the sword quickly and put it to use when needed. The ninjutsu sword is typically not as thick as a samurai sword. The ninjas were lower class fighters and did not have access to high quality weapons.

  2. Step 2

Use the sword as a step to get over high hedges or to jump on an opponent. Draw the sword and stick its thin blade into the ground. Step onto the handle grip and scale your obstacle.

  3. Step 3

Fill the hidden compartments at the hilt of the sword with other smaller weapons such as small knives, daggers and spikes.

  4. Step 4

Keep the blade of a ninjutsu sword duller than you might with other swords that are used more for slicing and cutting. The ninjutsu sword is supposed to be used for many tasks. You should be able to grab the blade with your gloved hands and use the hilt as a hammer, to remove the hilt for other uses itself, such as a snorkel while hiding underwater.

  5. Step 5

Reserve energy when fighting with a ninjutsu sword by waiting to swing until your opponent is coming after you. Swing smoothly and let his own movement complete the stroke. Ninjutsu trains the ninja to utilize the opponent's energy in all its techniques, from sword fighting to hand combat.
