Perhaps you have a wedding or a formal occasion coming up and you want to do a little more than jiggle while you're on the dance floor. Do the foxtrot. It's a fairly simple dance that looks elegant and has style. Best yet: It can be danced to most slow dance music.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Man

Step1
Begin to slow dance with the foxtrot by facing your partner and holding her in the ballroom position: your left hand will hold her right hand, while your right hand will go around her back to rest on her shoulder blade or just below.
Step2
Stand so that you face in the direction you plan to dance. You will find that this will mean that you will be standing at an angle, so that you will be turned a little toward the center of the room.
Step3
Step forward slowly with your right foot as you slow dance with the foxtrot.
Step4
Move your left foot forward quickly as you slow dance with the fox trot. Angle your step a little to the side as your next step will be to the outside of your partner.
Step5
Go forward quickly with your right foot, placing it in front of your left and to the outside of your partner.
Step6
Do the slow forward step again with your right foot and continue the steps above as you do the slow dance with the foxtrot.

Woman

Step1
Begin to slow dance with the foxtrot by facing your partner. Stand in the ballroom position with your back facing in the direction you'll be traveling with your body a little at an angle (determined by your partner).
Step2
Step back slowly with your left foot.
Step3
Go back quickly with your right foot.
Step4
Move your right foot back quickly as your partner steps forward and to your outside.
Step5
Do the slow step again as you do the slow dance with the foxtrot, and repeat the above steps.
