How to Shoot a Pop Cap

You can shoot off a pop cap from a bottle of pop by shaking the bottle to agitate the carbonation in the beverage. If done right, you should be able to shoot the cap up into the air by following these steps.

Things You’ll Need:

• Half full bottle of pop

1. Purchase a bottle of any carbonated beverage of your choosing.
2. Unscrew the cap and drink half of the drink or pour half of it out into a glass to be enjoyed at a later time.
3. Screw the cap back onto the bottle and twist it back on tightly.
4. Shake the bottle as vigorously as you possibly can for about 30 seconds or so.
5. Hold the bottle at arms length in your dominant hand, making sure to point it away from other people.
6. Touch the thumb of your dominant hand to the side of the cap. Quickly flick your thumb along the cap to spin it off as fast as you can. Watch as the cap shoots off up into the air.

Tips & Warnings

• It may take you a couple of times before you get it right.
• You are only able to try this one time per bottle of carbonated drink.
• Try twisting the plastic bottle over and over instead of shaking it, which will shake up the pop a little faster and with less effort.
• Avoid pointing the bottle cap at people or pets to avoid injury.
• You must do this outside, as the pop will explode and spill everywhere.
