How to Do a Peek-a-Boo for Ladies in Salsa Dance

Salsa is a combination of many styles of dance. The Peek-a-Boo in Salsa dance is also known as the checked inside turn. The pattern begins with an inside turn. This move in salsa dance requires the partners to change places for the Peek-a-Boo affect.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Connect to your partner with your left hand and arm to his right shoulder and arm. Join the right hand to his left hand.

  2. Step 2

    Begin stepping back on your right foot. Step forward on your left and turn right 360-degrees on your right foot and end facing your partner. During the turn, your partner lets go of you with his right arm.

  3. Step 3

    Step back on your right foot as your partner does a back basic on his left. This is also know as a break step. Continue to do a back basic, as your partner trades places. Stay connected to your partner with your right hand to your partner's left as you do the back basic.

  4. Step 4

    Finish by stepping forward on your right and turn to your left for 1 1/2 turns landing on your left foot. Move your right foot to prepare to go back into the basic.

Tips & Warnings
  • The rhythm in salsa dance is quick, quick, slow or 1, 2, 3 hold 4, 5, 6, 7, hold 8.
  • Don't travel around the floor; salsa is a spot or slot dance. Take small steps to stay in your space.
