Electric nail drills are the latest craze in manicuring. Electric nail drills allow you to buff and file your real or artificial nails in a quick and easy manner. These nail drills might be your next step to beautiful nails. Like any electronic device, you should know how to properly use an electric nail drill before operating one.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Read the directions on the drill carefully. Find out which buttons on the device control the speed and pressure of the drill. You should see if the drill is intended for real or artificial nails. Also, find out whether you operate this particular drill by hand or by foot.

  2. Step 2

Hold the nail drill in your hand before operating. Check to see if the drill feels comfortable and lightweight in your hand. Some drills are designed specifically for only right or left handed people.

  3. Step 3

Insert one of the replaceable emery board pieces into the drill. Turn the drill to the on setting. Set the drill to a speed that is comfortable for you.

  4. Step 4

Begin running the emery board across your acrylic nails in a filing motion. Electric nail drills should result in professional looking nails.

  5. Step 5

Clean the nail drill thoroughly if you plan on using the drill on someone else. Disinfect the utensils and change the emery board after each use.

Tips & Warnings
  • Like all electronic devices, keep the nail drill out of reach of children. Nail drills can be dangerous because some reach speeds up to 30,000 R.P.M.
