Make several bookworm bookmarks and give them to all your favorite book lovers. While you're at it, don't forget to make several bookworm bookmarks for yourself, too.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Poster board or tag board
  • Pencil
  • Black fine tip marker
  • Colored markers or colored pencils
  • 2 googly eyes
  • White craft glue
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

Draw a squiggly, worm shape on the poster board or tag board with a pencil. The shape can be rather like a backward "S." The size depends on the size of your book, but 6 to 8 inches is usually just right.

  2. Step 2

Create an oval shaped head at the top end of the shape. The head should be at an angle to the rest of the bookworm so it can look down over the top of your book.

  3. Step 3

Use the pencil to widen the curved shape into a bookworm about an 1 1/2 inch to 2 inches wide. Once you're satisfied with the shape, go over the pencil lines with a fine tip black marker.

  4. Step 4

Glue two googly eyes on the bookworm's head, and draw a mouth.

  5. Step 5

Use the colored markers or colored pencils to decorate the bookworm bookmark any way you like.

  6. Step 6

Put the bookworm in your favorite book, and let the bookworm's head stick out the top of the book.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you want to make the bookworm bookmark very durable, cover both sides with clear adhesive shelf paper and trim neatly around the bookworm. Be sure to do this before you add the googly eyes.
