Instructions

  1. Make Texta Zoom Crossbows

    • 1

Take apart both Texta Zoom windup crayons. Set aside all of the parts. Don't lose the springs.

    • 2

Affix a rubber band to the spring in two locations. There should be a couple of coils between each section of the spring with the rubber band.

    • 3

Slide one end of an empty windup behind the spring, between the places where the rubber band is attached. Bring the rubber band back behind the other end of the wind up.

    • 4

Hold both windups side by side, and wrap the rubber band around them several times. Tape them together.

    • 5

Wrap a rubber band around the tip of both ends of the spring, and pull it back to the other end of the wind up.

    • 6

Load a ball of paper onto the rubber band, pull it off the wind up and let go.

    Make a Traditional Crayon Crossbow

    • 7

Cut off the pointed end of one crayon, and saw divots into both ends using the knife.

    • 8

Tape the middle of the sawed-off crayon to the top of the pointed end of the other crayon so they're perpendicular to each other.

    • 9

Stretch the rubber band from the divots to the end of the perpendicular crayon.

    • 10

Hold a paper wad against the stretched rubber band, pull it off the crayon and let go.

Tips & Warnings

  • Try other kinds of projectiles with the crossbow.

  • Don't aim your completed crossbow at anyone. Any projectile can be hazardous, and it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.
