Instructions

    • 1

Think about what you want your homecoming mum to look like, especially focusing on the areas where you want to add light. Decide if you want the lights to hang down along streamers, weave through the flowers or wrap around accessories in your mum.

    • 2

Search craft stores and catalogs to find the perfect lights for your homecoming mum (see Resources). Look at all the different colors, sizes and shapes that lights come in and decide what will look the best for your arrangement.

    • 3

Conceal your battery pack, if you have one, at the beginning of your mum arrangement. You might want to attach the battery pack to the backboard with some tape or wire. Make a small slit for the wire to run through from the back where you attach it so the lights can dangle down the front.

Arrange neon light sticks through the arrangement in accessible places where you can bend them and release the light at your homecoming event. Braid the light sticks and light wires around accessories and ribbons according to your preconceived design in Step 1.
