How to Wax Billiard Balls

A good game of billiards may best be enjoyed in a smoke-filled bar or den, but that doesn't mean that your equipment needs to get dirty. Waxing your billiard balls will not only keep your game looking professional, but might also keep your balls in top shape, to help you sink that eight ball.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Shake the bottle of polish well, and apply a few drops of polish to the ball.

    • 2

With a microfiber cloth, rub the polish thoroughly onto the whole surface of the ball.

    • 3

With a second microfiber cloth, buff the ball dry.

    • 4

Assess the freshly-polished ball. If you see any spots you've missed, repeat Steps 1-3.

    • 5

Repeat for each ball, making sure to keep separate the waxing cloth and the drying cloth.

Tips & Warnings

  • Regular waxing, buffing and play may wear your balls down to less than regulation size. A local billiards shop can measure your balls to detect any flaws.

  • Use a polish made for billiard balls, or you may damage the ball - or even alter its movement. You should also clean your microfiber cloths with soap and warm water, but no chemicals.
