So you have a Blackberry Curve 8300 smartphone and a laptop using Windows VISTA. Follow these simple instructions to connect to the internet using your Blackberry Curve as a modem wherever you get cellular network coverage.
Blackberry Curve, Laptop with USB port, and USB to Blackberry Cable
Step1
You must install the Blackberry Desktop Software 4.1 or later.
Step2
On your laptop, Click, Start, Settings, Control Panel, Phone and Modem Options. Now click the Modems tab. Click on Standard Modem. Click Properties. Click Change Settings. Click the Advanced Tab. Go to EXTRA INITIALIZATION COMMAND and type +cgdcont=1, "O{", "(your APN)"
If you do not know your Internet Access Point Name (APN), contact your mobile service provider.
Step3
Configure the dial-up networking by clicking Start, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Phone and Modem Options. Enter the area code and access code.
Step4
Depending on your service provider, you may need to pay for an extra service from your cellular service provider in order to use your phone as a modem.
