Things You'll Need:
- Old pillowcase
- Discarded and unmatched socks
- Sewing needle
- Thread
-
Step 1
Choose an old pillowcase that you no longer want or go to the thrift store and purchase a pillowcase. This will be the basis of your dog bed so make sure it damaged or falling apart.
-
Step 2
Fill the pillowcase about half way full of the old socks. As my kids wear out and damage their socks, I put them in a bin and collect them. I also collect the match to missing socks I have given up on as well as discarded pantyhose and discarded t-shirts, which I cut into shreds. Therefore, when I say “socks” I mean any combination of these items.
-
Step 3
Sew the opening of the pillowcase closed. Then fluff and flatten the dog bed. They will love it… for about a month when they tear it to shreds again.
-
Step 4
Start all over again. It is just a matter of time before my dogs shred this dog bed just like they have shred all of the others. Fortunately, I made this from recycled items instead of having spent $40.00 on it. I just take the dog bed, and dump the socks in the washing machine and then the dryer. Then I re-make the dog bed with a new pillowcase if necessary.
